Internet Access in Indonesia. Internet users in Indonesia is increasingly rising, especially the various providers that provide high availability option. And padabeberapa recent years, great strides have been made in the development of telecommunications infrastructure in Indonesia so that now there is an interesting array of alternative services that provide faster Internet access for consumers in Indonesia. Internet in Indonesia was launched in 1998 and reached 134,000 subscribers. In 2004 that figure had grown to 1.3 million, and by 2010, there were 30 million Internet users in Indonesia, about 13 percent of the population. The use of broadband is only about 18 percent of all Internet users in Indonesia.

Poll Results from Expat Forum showed that expatriates use the following methods to connect to the Internet in Indonesia:

  3. Broadband Cable 41.67%
  4. Satellite-based Internet access 6.25%
  5. DSL and ADSL 33.33%
  6. Wireless (wavelan, laser and microwave links) 20.83%
  7. Wi-Fi hot spot of 14.58%
  8. Other 4.17%
